Lactococcus lactis strain Plasma is shown to maintain the balance of skin flora
and possibly enhance the skin barrier.
Ingestion of Lactococcus lactis strain Plasma is found to maintain the balance of skin flora and enhance the skin barrier.
The results confirmed increased levels of expression of tight junction genes*, which play an essential role in the skin barrier.
*Tight junction genes: genes that encode proteins required for adhesion between skin cells, and are known to contribute to water retention capacity of the skin.
*Statistically significant (p ＜ 0.05)
